SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - WLOX News and some local law enforcement agencies have received reports from people who believe they are receiving fraudulent phone calls.
Viewers say the caller leaves an automated voice message saying their credit card has been suspended and requests their account number.
While we have no confirmation on the source of the calls, authorities say it's always best to err on the side of caution. They say do not give out any personal or account information over the phone.
If you feel like you've gotten a fraudulent call you should contact your credit card company and law enforcement agency to report it.
Officials with the Mississippi Attorney General's Office say that if you suspect you have fallen victim to a phone scam you can call their Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-281-4418. You can also fill out a complaint form online at www.agjimhood.com.
