Andrade & Funk lead the field after 2 Rounds at the MS Gulf Resort Classic

SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) -

First-round leader Fred Couples ended day two with a 1-under 71, following a 6-under 66 on Friday. That gives Couples a two-day total of 7-under par. He's now one shot off the pace tied with Jay Haas and Jeff Maggert.

Defending champion Michael Allen shot an even par 72. He's in the clubhouse at 4-under after 36 holes.

Billy Andrade had the Fallen Oak golf course sizzling Saturday with a 7-under 65. He grabbed a share of the lead at 8-under after two rounds.

"I'm ecstatic to be in this position," Andrade said. "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and this is why we play to get a chance to win the tournament on Sunday."

Fred Funk had his golf game in high gear, knocking down a birdie on the 7th hole. Funk was 8-under for the tournament after 17 holes and nearly took sole possession of first place, barely missing a birdie attempt on the 18th hole.

"I like coming here because it's a pretty difficult golf course," Funk said. "I like hard golf courses so when you're playing well you try to get a little separation but we're not too separate on the board right now."

Bill Glasson, Mark O'Meara and Duffy Waldorf are two shots off the pass at 6-under. Tom Lehman is in the hunt along with Roger Chapman and John Riegger all at 5-under.

Defending champ Michael Allen shot an even-par 72 today. He's 4-under after 36 holes tied with Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer, Olin Browne, Scott Hoch and Mark McNulty.

The field is chasing Andrade and Funk. Due to the forecast of rain, the final 18 holes tee off Sunday at 8 a.m.
