SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) - Perfect weather greeted Saturday's golfers and gallery at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.
It was no surprise that the largest crowd was following fan favorite and former champion at Fallen Oak, Fred Couples. The Los Angeles native began the second round as tournament leader after shooting an opening round of 66.
Couples teed off at 1 p.m. in the final group of the day, playing with Kenny Perry and Jeff Maggert. After shooting par on the opening hole, the crowd erupted when Couples quickly dropped a stroke with a birdie on the par four second hole.
Despite earlier predictions of an overcast day with a chance of rain, the sun broke out early and warm temperatures quickly followed. The breeze at Fallen Oak offered beautiful weather overall on this sunny Saturday.
