WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) - It's an annual family friendly event that kicked off Friday evening along the streets of historic downtown Wiggins. The streets were full of people who came out for the opening day of the Pine Hill Festival.
There were plenty of food choices and more than 100 vendors, selling everyday items and unique crafts.
"It's great. It's a lot of good publicity for us. We get to meet a lot of nice people. We definitely enjoy coming out," said William Yeomans of Going Green Lanterns Co.
At the Pine Hill Festival, there's something for all ages. There is no shortage of music, games and activities that make for a great family weekend.
"It's lots of fun. It brings back lots of memories with me and my baby. I enjoy the children out here with all of this playing and fun and games," Sophia Johnson said.
New comers and annual attendees look forward to this small town event for a big reason, history.
"It's something that's been here for a long time and in order to keep it going, you have to anticipate. It's such a small time but its so many loving people here, and that's why we keep coming back. Just to give back a part of something that this town has given to us," Jack Bates said.
"I just think it's great, the number of people that supports Wiggins and come out. It's awesome. Being this small town that we have, we're big when it comes to supporting each other," Pat Bates said.
The Pine Hill Festival will continue Saturday morning starting at 10 a.m. There will also be a 5K/10K and kids race that will start at 8 a.m.
