D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

A D'Iberville man who admitted downloading child porn off the internet will spend the next 25 years in prison.

Thomas James Clayton, Jr., 41, pleaded guilty Monday to Exploitation of a Child. He was arrested in July 2011 after D'Iberville Police and the Gulf Coast Cyber Crimes Task Force received that led them to believe he possessed child pornography at the residence.

"Investigators seized the defendant's computer and numerous flash drives that contained child pornography. Following his arrest, Clayton provided a statement to law enforcement admitting that he had downloaded the movies from the internet," said ADA Beth McFadyen, who prosecuted the case.

After receiving the defendant's plea, Judge John Gargiulo sentenced Clayton to 40 years, and suspended 15, requiring him to serve 25 years in prison, followed by five years of post release supervision. He will be required to serve the entire 25 years without the possibility of parole or early release and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

"This conviction is a tremendous example of the good work that is being conducted by our local agencies and the Coast Cyber Crimes Task Force to combat internet crimes against children," said District Attorney Joel Smith.
