MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - The mother of the 12-year-old boy who died after a fight at school was tased and arrested Monday by a Moss Point police officer.
LaKenisa Nobles was riding with a friend who was pulled over by police for a traffic stop on Doris Street. Police say the man driving got out of the car and ran into a house and shut himself inside. Police say Nobles got out of the vehicle too, and began yelling at the officer.
Police Chief Keith Davis said the officer instructed Nobles to get back inside the truck, but instead she started coming toward the officer. Davis said that's when the officer used his taser to subdue Nobles.
Another officer went into the house where the driver ran and arrested him.
Nobles is charged with giving false information to an officer and resisting arrest. Chief Davis said Nobles was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The arrest has the family upset; Many went to the police department Monday afternoon looking for answers.
Just days ago, the family was saying goodbye to Nobles's son, 12-year-old Lorel Malone, who died March 7th, just hours after a fight with another student at Magnolia Middle School.
Chief Davis said the incident is under investigation.
