Zombies are hot, and Allen Baler of Reboot Marketing thinks he knows why.

Nashville, Tenn. United States March 10, 2014 /MarketersMedia/ —

The Walking Dead, Zombieland, World War Z…a spate of zombie-related entertainment has trudged onto the American landscape in recent years with a relentless pursuit of viewers, who have devoured the genre and licked their chops for more.

Some people wonder why zombie TV shows, movies and graphic novels have become so popular in recent years. Harvard graduate Allen Baler, who started Reboot Marketing LLC (www.RebootMarketing.com) in 2008 and quickly propelled it into an Inc. 500 fastest growing company, believes he knows the answer.

“Zombies are hot right now, there’s no question about that,” said Baler, whose Nashville, Tenn.-based company soared from $769,042 in revenue in 2009 to $11.8 million in 2012 to claim the No. 304 spot on Inc.’s list last year. “Zombie TV shows like The Walking Dead are popular because they’re action-based and people like to be scared and entertained at the same time.

“But I believe there’s much more to this popularity. People keep seeing and experiencing more and more crazy things in real life that they never thought they would encounter, such as weather catastrophes, lengthy power outages, drug-resistant viruses and government intrusions on personal liberties. As they look toward a very uncertain future, a zombie apocalypse doesn’t seem so far-fetched anymore.

“Now, we don’t try to make people think that a zombie apocalypse is lurking around the corner, but we do strongly suggest that they prepare for situations in which the basic necessities of life are suddenly not available, such as food and water. These are not wild, end-of-the-world scenarios in comic books; they’re real life. Just ask the people who found themselves without food and clean drinking water after Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy struck.”

Baler’s company offers a variety of products that help people prepare for a potentially-scary future, even if that future doesn’t involve flesh-eating zombies. Reboot Marketing’s products include:

- Power4Patriots (www.Power4Patriots.com), a series of Do-It-Yourself videos and manuals (printed and electronic) showing how to build solar panels, a wind turbine, a solar water heater and a solar air heater.

- SurvivalSeeds4Patriots (www.SurvivalSeeds4Patriots.com), a seed vault containing approximately 5,640 survival seeds from 21 varieties of heirloom and non-genetically modified seeds, rated for five-plus years of storage.

- Food4Patriots (www.Food4Patriots.com), a long-term food survival solution consisting of pre-packaged kits of survival food rated for 25 years of storage, available in 72-hour, four-week and three-month supplies.

- Water4Patriots (www.Water4Patriots), scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2014. One of the products to be offered under this umbrella is the LifeStraw personal water filter, designed to provide the user with safe, clean drinking water in any situation.
