Athens OKs funds for Remington expansion project

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Athens city leaders approved its contributionto the Huntsville Remington project Monday.

The Athens City Councilapproved a contract at its Monday night meeting, allocating $250,000 for theproject.

Gun manufacturer Remingtonis opening a new plantin Huntsville by the airport. Some of the money will go towards the purchase ofthe old Chrysler building where Remington will be located.

The project is expected tobring nearly 2,000 jobs to North Alabama.
