Man who drowned in Butler Co. now identified

BUTLER CO., AL (WSFA) -

The Butler County Sheriff's Department is identifying the man who drowned Monday afternoon while on a boat fishing with a friend.

Sheriff Kenny Harden says 76-year-old Elvin "Buddy" Skipper died after the boat he and a friend were in capsized. The friend was able to make it back to the bank and is said to be okay.

The drowning happened near Spring Hill Road and Halso Mill Road in the county.

Sheriff Harden says a dive team recovered Skipper's body several hours after he went missing.

No other details were immediately made available.
