St. Jude Dream Home opens for tours

Posted: Updated:
BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Visitors couldn't wait to get inside and take a tour of the St. Jude Dream Home Sunday. Hundreds of visitors have already passed through the home since tours started Saturday.

One of the visitors said winning the St. Jude Dream Home would be a perfect reason to move to Mississippi. Event Marketing Representative for St. Jude, Brooke Vogel, is impressed with the community's excitement for the contest.

"I just think so many people are familiar with the dream home now that they are just excited to see the St. Jude Dream Home," said Vogel.

More than 30 sponsors were involved with building the three bedroom, two and a half bath home. The contractor even added St. Jude's logo in a few spots as a reminder of why the home was built.

"We actually had very high numbers of people come visit the house Saturday, so that was very neat to know that so many people came to view the house the first day," said Vogel.

Visitors were also eligible to enter a few raffles while touring the home. One of them included a $5,000 shopping spree to Ashley Furniture.

"I just think it's great that they can do this to make money for the children for St. Jude, and all the people that donated their time and skills into building a house that all the money can go back to the children," said ticket holder, Velma Groue.

Tickets for the dream home are sold at the Tradition Sales Center and Santini's Market and Café in Biloxi. There are only 6,500 tickets available. Winners will be announced during a live show on WLOX Sunday April 13, at 3:00 p.m.
