GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a Gonzales man Thursday night after being accused of abusing a woman and holding her against her will.

According to reports, deputies went to a home in the 10000 block of Highway 431 in reference to a disturbance complaint. Deputies say they knocked several times on the door, but no one answered. After speaking to a witness that told them they heard a woman screaming from the home, deputies used a loud speaker to ask the people inside the home to come out.

After several minutes, deputies say 55-year-old David Callier came out of the home and was taken into custody.

The victim says Callier physically assaulted her over a period of several hours and threatened to kill her if she left the house.

Callier was charged with domestic abuse battery, second degree battery and false imprisonment.

Cailler is being held at the Ascension Parish Jail, no bond has been set.
