Coroner: Hayley Howard died as a result of drowning

Hayley Howard, 19 Hayley Howard, 19

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has classified the death of 19 year-old Hayley Howard as a drowning.

Howard's body and car were pulled from Irish Bayou Wednesday afternoon after several days of searching for the UNO student.

Howard was last seen Saturday morning. She dropped off a friend at a UNO campus dorm earlier in the evening. Her family says she and her boyfriend had a phone conversation, and that she told him she was going to go thank two people who had helped her with a flat tire. Then Howard headed to a party in Slidell.

Toxicology reports will take 2-3 weeks. Funeral plans have not yet been released.
