Monday hearing postponed; Darren Sharper to remain jailed

Updated:

LOS ANGELES, CA (WVUE) - Darren Sharper will remain in a Los Angeles jail without bond until he's arraigned later this week.

The former Saint is wanted in New Orleans for the alleged aggravated rape of two women. Darren Sharper appeared before a judge on closed circuit television from the LA County jail Monday morning.

The hearing was supposed to determine the next step in his extradition process back to New Orleans. Instead, the judge decided to postpone his hearing until Friday.

At that time, Sharper could ask the judge to waive his extradition meaning he will be picked up by authorities and brought back to New Orleans.

The NOPD issued arrest warrants for Sharper and his friend, Erik Nunez, last week. The two are accused of raping two women in the Warehouse District last year.

Nunez is currently in jail with no bond. If convicted, both could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sharper has already pleaded not guilty to rape and drug charges in Los Angeles and was placed on a one million dollar bond.

He's also being investigated for similar crimes in Florida, Arizona and Nevada.
