SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Governor Phil Bryant has issued a state of emergency in preparation for a system of severe storms expected to move through Mississippi Sunday night and into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service forecasts ice accumulations in the northern part of the state and severe thunderstorms with possible tornadoes in the central and southern parts of the state.

"It may seem difficult to accept with today's warm temperatures, but the National Weather Service has predicted winter weather and severe storms for parts of the state," said Bryant.  "Residents should take necessary precautions now before the bad weather arrives."
