Demonstrators hold signs for peace in Venezuela and Ukraine

LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Some South Mississippians were trying to raise awareness for international violence Saturday afternoon. Several demonstrators were holding signs that read, "Peace in Ukraine," and "Honk for peace," along Highway 90 in Long Beach.

Several passing cars honked at the demonstrators to show support.

The Mississippi State Chair for Young Americans for Liberty, Shea Dobson, said he and his group want to raise awareness of the clashes in Venezuela and the conflict in the Ukraine.

"People just need to be aware of what's going on in our world in general," said Dobson.

"What's going on in Ukraine and Venezuela, there's a lot of both governments really suppressing the protestors. There's a lot of students in Venezuela that are protesting and getting met with a lot of violence."
