Jackson sales tax increase starts on Saturday

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Voters in Jackson approved the one-cent sales tax last month, and it will take effect on Saturday.

It's expected to generate about $343 million over 20 years.

That money will go to help fix the city's water, sewer and drainage systems.

Groceries, restaurant food and beverages and prescription drugs are some of the products that won't be taxed.
