BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A used car dealer in Gulfport is accused of taking a customer's car from a wrecker yard after falsely claiming to be the owner. Biloxi Police Department Investigator Nick Sonnier said 56-year-old Steven Ray Schreider, owner of Oscar's Used Cars, was arrested Thursday and charged with false pretense.

Sonnier said the car was purchased from Oscar's Used Cars in Gulfport on November 13, 2013 and paid for in full with cash. Authorities said the car was damaged in a wreck during the interim period when possession of the title was changing and was taken to a wrecker yard in Biloxi.

Sonnier said Schreider went to the wrecker yard and presented the old title of the vehicle and claimed to be the owner. Investigators said Schreider took possession of the car after falsely representing himself as the owner.

Sonnier said the victim discovered Schreider had taken possession of the vehicle when she went to claim the car at the wrecker yard. The vehicle has been listed as stolen but has not been located.

The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call Biloxi police at 228-392-0641.
