Sportsmen sales tax holiday passed by Senate

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Senate passed a sales tax holiday to encourage sportsmen to purchase firearms and hunting supplies in Mississippi, according to  Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves.

Senate Bill 2425 gives outdoor enthusiasts a sales tax break on firearms, ammunition, hunting and fishing supplies during the first weekend in September.

"This tax break is for Mississippians who enjoy outdoor sports and encourages more citizens to participate in outdoor shooting sports," Lt. Gov. Reeves said. "I'm thankful for the support of the National Rifle Association on this bill and so many other strong Second Amendment protections we've passed this year."
