VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Multiple people were injured when a silver SUV and a gold minivan collided at the intersection of Ashley and Ann Street Tuesday morning.

Jason Cooner works at Beds for Less Mattress Express on the corner of Ashley and Ann Street and saw the whole thing.

"The silver [SUV] made a left turn, the gold van smashed into it," said Cooner.

Cooner said the silver SUV was apparently trying to turn left off of Ashley on to Ann Street.

"Silver [SUV] popped up in the air, flipped, smashed down. It was bad," said Cooner. "We all ran out here...the lady in the [SUV], her arm was all gashed open. The fella in the gold van, he got out, took his kids out [and] handed them to the pedestrians."

Valdosta Fire Captain Ronald Skrine said all of the people in both vehicles were taken to local hospitals for treatment, but it didn't appear that anyone was seriously injured.

"I don't know the extent of [the driver of the gold van's] injuries, he didn't appear to be hurt as bad as the driver in the rolled over vehicle," Skrine explained.

"There were several kids that were reported to us to be involved in the accident, however they were not in the vehicle that rolled over and they appear to be okay," Skrine continued.

The driver of the silver SUV had to be extricated, but only sustained cuts and bruises.

"She was conscious, she could move a little bit," said Skrine. "She did have some severe cuts and bruises."

Investigators are still trying to determine how, exactly, the accident happened.
