Bond denied to man charged with murdering his father and grandmother

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Tyrone Liddell Jr. was denied bond in court Monday. He is charged with two counts of murder for allegedly killing his father and grandmother.

Liddell Jr. appeared before Judge Houston Paston. He will remain behind bars and his case will go to a grand jury.

Police say it all stemmed from a family argument. A police detective testified in court Monday that Liddell Jr.'s girlfriend was with him the night of the murders. She said Liddell Jr. was the triggerman.

The shooting took place at 1025 Voorhees Avenue.

Tyrone Liddell was found laying in his front yard. A short time later, Bertha Lee Liddell was found inside. Both victims were shot multiple times.

According to court records, Liddell Jr. was arrested and charged with aggravated assault back in 2008.  In 2012, he was declared mentally ill, and committed to the state hospital as a non-dangerous patient, only to be released a month later.

His brother was in court today. He did not want to talk on camera. But he told us this was difficult for the family and he believes Liddell Jr.was not on his "mental" medication.
