PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - Saturday was a day of celebration in South Mississippi as carnival parades rolled across the coast. Floats, horses and buggies, golf carts and more filled the streets in Pass Christian.
Folks lined up along Cable Bridge Road, right outside of Neco's Market, to celebrate the 6th annual Krewe of Legacy Mardi Gras Parade.
Many locals, like John McCord, aren't new to this bead throwing party, and say they look forward to this event every year.
Everyone has the same intention of filling their neck with beads, and locals like Sandra Dubuisson says the excitement is what she loves most.
"The good times, and the excitement, the difference for everybody. Everybody dresses any kind of way. It's just exciting," said Dubuisson.
She says she's happy to have it in her own city.
"We finally got a parade out in the country, and not in the city, so it's unique."
Evon Delano is from Alaska. She recently moved to the South with her family, and she's excited to experience her first Mardi Gras. She says she expects a lot of things.
"All the parades and all of the excitement, I've never seen it before," Delano said.
Boy, was she in for a good time.
This year's king and queen were Brandon and Melissa Necaise.
