West Harrison head coach Doug Bazzell has built Hurricanes basketball from the ground up. It's no secret West Harrison has loads of talent, talent that could bring back the State 5A Championship trophy to the coast.
Bazzell said,"I think we can go a long ways if we can stay healthy. Now you have to have a little bit of luck during this part of the season.'
Four Hurricane players are netting double digits led by junior Harvey Smart's 15 points an outing.
Deshawn Jones is bagging 14 points and says West Harrison is a real contender for the state title.
"We've been together for so long you know we've got a lot of chemistry and we've gotten closer as the year have gone by, I think we deserve it this year," stated Jones.
Zeke Lee said,"We came close like last year we had a chance and the year before that we had a good chance to go." We should go this year, we've got a great chance.
Mo Stephens drills 13 points and 7 rebounds per game. The senior has loads of talent.
Stephens said,"I'm an offensive player, an all-around player, inside, outside, rebound." He added,"I'm a good mid-range shooter and I can handle pressure very well."
Julius Buckhalter is another senior who helps add more firepower and rebounding prowess inside the paint.
The Hurricanes are hungry for that golden ball.
