Voters in Mississippi will get at chance in November to declare that fishing and hunting are rights; not privileges. If approved, the change will become a constitutional amendment. Whether by state statute or constitutional amendment, we think it's an important change.
It is important that all of our rights not be whittled down to so-called privileges. A privilege can be taken away with very little justification by government agencies. A privilege is much more easily controlled and regulated.
If the government tries to take away someone's rights, the legal obstacles are much more formidable. We agree with efforts to maintain our freedom and rights
