Coach Ronald Norman has his Pascagoula Panthers ready for Div. 7-5A Tournament

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Head coach Ronald Norman has built a solid reputation since becoming a head basketball coach in 1996. After stops in Raleigh, his home town of Bay Springs and at Wayne County, Norman accepted the head coaching job at Pascagoula.

Norman said,"God blessed me to get this job down here and you know I'm thankful for the things that he has opened up for me to do here on the coast.

Coach Norman took over a talented Pascagoula basketball team, but one that was lacking in discipline. It didn't take long for him to instill his basketball philosophy one that depends on dedication and pride.

"I don't care about the past, I care about where we're moving forward from and the relationship they have established with me,"stated Norman. "And that's how it started with us and no kid had anything against him when I got here and they all kind of bought in and the kids that I have are the kids that I love to death it's really all about them."

The Panthers closed out regular season play with a 19 and 6 won-loss record, ran off a perfect 6 and 0 Division 7-5A record and jump into the playoffs with a 13 game winning streak.

The players believe in what coach Norman is trying to achieve.

Bobby Nettles runs the Panthers attack along with Ladatren Deas.

Nettles said,"He made a big influence, him coming down here makes us look at each other as brothers and family."

"His coaching and making us do things wasn't like our last coach,"stated Deas. "He told us we could do it and he made us do it."

The Panthers were fine tuning their game plan for the Division 7-5A tournament beginning Tuesday at Pascagoula, a date with East Central at 5:30
