BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A mother has been arrested after a little boy was taken to the hospital and doctors discovered he had ingested crack cocaine.

Keisha Sturdivant, 33, of Baton Rouge, faces charges of use of controlled dangerous substance in presence of a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and cruelty to a juvenile. Her bond was set at $20,000.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said a 1-year-old boy was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital on Wednesday and placed in the pediatric intensive care unit for cocaine ingestion.

According to the probable cause report, doctors said it is believed the boy ingested the drugs at least a day before being hospitalized. At last check, he was listed in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators said Sturdivant admitted she smoked crack at home Monday. They said she added her children were asleep at the time and the only way the child could have ingested the cocaine was by picking up a crumb of crack cocaine off the ground and eating it.
