RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Black ice is being blamed for an accident that shutdown MS. Highway 43 Thursday morning.

Skycopter 3 captured exclusive video of the scene, just past the Natchez Trace in Rankin County.

The accident caused both lanes to be blocked and brought traffic to a standstill.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer Julius Hutson said there were two crashes that involved three vehicles.

Hutson said the first wreck happened shortly after 6 a.m. when a car lost control after hitting a patch of black ice.

Thirty minutes later two cars collided on the highway.

Hutson said there were no injuries and the highway is back open.
