Mississippi Surge preparing for a road game at Pensacola Friday night

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Left wing Kyle Kudroch has ignited the offense for the Surge, which is a team in need of someone who can provide a spark.

In the 2013-14 season, Kudroch has played in 38 games, netting 29 points on 17 goals and 12 assists.

He's one of the big reasons the Surge find themselves in sixth place with 40 points, four points behind Peoria for fifth place and five points behind the fourth place Mississippi RiverKings.

"Every time we go out there we've got to stick to the system," Kudroch said. "When we keep to the system and keep it simple, we're a good hockey team. We can only get better when we understand that."

The Surge will face the Pensacola Ice Flyers, the SPHL's first place team, Friday night. Pensacola (25-13-3) has an offensive attack that the Surge know needs to be slowed down.

"They just come with a lot of speed," Tolles said. "They throw a lot at you every game. Every shift you've got to be ready. They have three lines that can score. They're a really fast team but I think if we can slow them down and play our game, we'll be fine."

The Surge are trying to move up the ladder in the SPHL standings and a win over Pensacola will be a big momentum builder.
