Ft. Benning’s MWR Program reschedules car auction for Friday

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Fort Benning has rescheduled their car auction for Friday Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. at the NAF Property Warehouse on Main Post. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday morning but was postponed due to the weather.

The Morale Welfare and Recreation Program is auctioning off more than 50 abandoned vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans and SUVs.

They will accept cash, Master/VISA card and a check with a bank letter guaranteeing your check up to a specific amount/date.

We spoke to a soldier on base who was able to preview the cars available for sale.

"I was so glad I was able to make this pre-auction [Monday]," said Sgt. Maj. Ivory Bourage. "I mean it's a great opportunity. I just walked through the gate, I'm looking around, I already got my eyes set on the vehicle I want. I'm not going to tell 'em which one it is."

The auction is open to the public and the cars are sold as is. A bill of sale will be provided upon purchase, as well as a form to get the tag and title.

All money goes back to the MWR Program for soldiers and their families.

As Ja-Naya Thompson's short life was celebrated, there were a lot of tears and hugs as hundreds of people paid their respects during the visitation and the funeral service. People told me they went to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for two reasons, to mourn the loss of five year old Ja-Naya and to show support to the parents who must now face life without their beloved child.More >>
