Bond denied to McClure Rd murder suspect

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An accused murderer appeared before Judge Houston Patton this morning.

Israel Hughes' case was bound over to a grand jury and he did not receive bond. He is charged with the murder of Jennifer Coleman. 

On January 16th our cameras were rolling when Jackson Police arrived on the scene at McClure Road in south Jackson.

They found Coleman's body lying in a pool of blood. Hughes was taken from the murder scene, arrested and charged with murder. 

Police say a verbal altercation led to the killing.

According to investigators, Hughes struck Coleman with a stick several times. They say the coroner found Coleman had broken ribs and several cuts and bruises to the face.
