St. Patrick Fighting Irish entertain St. Andrews in South State Soccer Final

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Head Coach Mario Camps has built a solid reputation at Mercy Cross and now St. Patrick High School.

In 18 years, his soccer teams have won the district championship 17 times, two 1-A-2A-3A State Championship titles and one state runners-up slot

Camps has guided the Fighting Irish to 10 wins and 7 losses this win away from heading to the 2014 State title game.

Camps said,"We try to maintain the ball possession the longest. Our belief is if we have the ball in our possession the more chances we have to score and the less chances the other team has to score."

Philip Rizk scored the only goal in Saturday's thrilling win over Madison-St. Joseph. He says defense is the key to the Fighting Irish success.

"Our defense really plays strong,"stated Rizk. He added,"Our forwards kind of take away the game by scoring goals but a lot of people look at the goals but the defense does the dirty work and take it home for us every time."

To knock-off St. Andrews, the state's 12th ranked overall team... St. Patrick must play team soccer. If they can do that they have a good shot at victory.

Stephen Alexander said,"We definitely Our midfield is good. We have good passing around the midfield we've got me and a few others up top that can really put away some chances."

Camps added,"They have the determination. They have the heart which is very important. If you don't have a heart, you just can't win."
