LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles Police were busy clearing a jack-knifed 18-wheeler from Interstate-10 Westbound near mile marker 32. The incident happened shortly after 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the truck works for a freight company & is coming from Florida on his way to California. The driver told 7 News he was coming down the slight hill on I-10 near Opelousas Street and the trailer was coming down a little faster than the truck which caused it to push out of the way and eventually caused it to jack-knife in the ditch.

No one was injured in the accident. Lake Charles Police asked motorists to avoid the area until they could remove the truck and trailer.

This curve is no stranger to accidents. In fact, the Lake Charles City Council has asked the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to look into the problem.
