BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

People in Mississippi often say that if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes and it will change. That has definitely been the case recently.

Just a couple of days ago, no one dared cross the Biloxi Bay Bridge because it was frozen over. Now, people like Alex Byrd are out enjoying the sunshine.

"The weather's nice so I decided to go for a run," said Byrd.

He said he was tired of having to stay in his house and that he needed to get out.

Apparently he wasn't the only one. The walking track on the Biloxi Bay Bridge was full of people out breathing the fresh air. It almost looked like a scene you would see during springtime.

There were several people out and about who had the same opinion on the weather changes. Robin Crawford was visiting the beach with his family.

"It's nuts, I mean yesterday morning at our house in Pearl we had snow on the ground," said Crawford.

In other parts of the country, it's still freezing. Taylor Smith was in Biloxi, visiting from Illinois. She said her hometown was still under ice.

"This right here is really nice," said Smith.

She said it was so nice, she wanted to move here.

For a lot of people, the weather changes were a bit too much. I asked Byrd what he thought about people thinking the weather was a crazy.

"Well I understand why, because one day it's 20 degrees and then the next day it's 60 degrees," said Byrd.

In fact, my WLOX weather app said the temperature was 68 degrees for most of the day, which is not only good for those wanting to get out, but it was also great for business. Especially businesses like Classy Chassis Car Wash in Ocean Springs that rely on good weather.

There was a steady line of cars making their way in and out of the car wash for most of the day, which kept employee, Lauren Guilbeaux on her feet.

"We're getting really busy, so there's probably about 150 cars coming in today," Guilbeaux said.

According to her, it wasn't a bad thing.

"I get to make some money."

There was around a 40 degree difference from the coldest temperatures of the freeze to the warmest temperatures just a few days later.

Gulfport's Mayor and Chief Administrator say Fire Chief Michael Beyerstedt has their full confidence, and they've closed the book on an altercation two months ago between the chief and a firefighter. Now, a recently retired firefighter who says he witnessed the altercation has come forward not only to share his perspective of the incident but also on what he calls a serious need to hire more firefighters.
