SFA extends home winning streak to 28

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Junior Jacob Parker tipped in the game-winning shot with 0.6 seconds remaining as the Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team survived a scare from Incarnate Word in a 76-74 victory Saturday night inside William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Leading by as many as 15 (26-11) in the first half, SFA (20-2, 9-0) saw its lead diminish in the second half, trailing by seven at 69-62 with 4:06 remaining. But the ‘Jacks outscored the UIW (16-5, 4-4 SLC) 12-5 over the final four minutes, capped by Parker's tip-in with less than a second remaining.

Senior Nikola Gajic led the way for SFA with a career-high 23 points and nine rebounds, hitting five of his seven three-point attempts. Parker added 17 points and eight rebounds on the night with four assists, while senior Desmond Haymon added 13 points and five boards.

Senior Deshaunt Walker had six points, coming on back-to-back three pointers to pull SFA to within one at 69-68 late in the second half. Sophomore Trey Pinkney dished out a career-high nine assists and finished with three points, including a pair of key free throws in the waning minutes.

With the win, the 'Jacks preserve their home winning streak, which has now reached 28-straight games and reties No. 16/17 Duke for the longest active streak in the nation. SFA also reached the 20-win plateau for the second-straight season, as head coach Brad Underwood continues to build upon the most wins by a head coach in their first season. Adding to the streaks, the 'Jacks picked up their 16th consecutive win overall, which continues to rank fifth nationally as well.

SFA will continue its four-game homestand with Nicholls State in a 8:00 p.m. tip on Thursday, Feb. 8.
