Several residents from the metro made appearances on a nationally-broadcast Tyler Perry production last week.
Members of the group Stathan, Thigpen and Holy Nation made their television debut on the show "The Haves and The Have Nots," which is broadcast on Oprah's OWN Network.
Donavon Thigpen said they got the call while they were on the way to meet the casting director for the James Brown biopic.
And Tyler Perry's people told them to be in Atlanta for filming within 12 hours of the call.
"We were able to bring other Jacksonians with us because we had the option to use people from Atlanta, but we wanted to use people that we've grown up with and who are from the Jackson area. Because I feel like the world needs to meet these Jacksonians, and they are very appreciative for it," said musician Donavon Thigpen.
Members of the group portrayed a choir for a funeral scene in the show.
