PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

The Moss Point woman found dead Friday reportedly died of hypothermia, according to Pascagoula Police Captain James DeShannon Massey.

According to Massey, Brenda Diane Stopher, 60, was last seen by family and friends Wednesday around 11 p.m. Massey said Stopher lived alone and worked as a waitress in Jackson County.

He said her vehicle was found close to where her body was discovered. Her body was found on Ingalls shipyard property. Ingalls security found the Stopher while patrolling the East Bank facility around 2pm Friday.

Massey said Stopher may have been disoriented and may have gotten lost and stuck out in the cold for too long. She was out in the cold Wednesday night and Thursday.

"We don't believe it was a self inflicted death," Massey said.

Anyone with information that may help should call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
