SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police have identified a trio of convicted felons arrested early Friday morning after they were caught in the act trying to burglarize a Shreveport machinery business.

Police say an officer on patrol spotted suspicious activity around 2 a.m., when he saw a pickup truck with a flatbed trailer attached idling near a secluded spot on Greenwood Rd. at Broadway Ave. outside the Pharr Brothers Machinery, which was closed for business.

As he watched, the officer reportedly saw a group of men making return trips to the pickup truck, each time carrying and loading various machine parts onto the trailer.

Police say when officers moved in, the allegedly tried to flee. After a brief chase, officers caught up to two of the men and a K-9 officer caught the third. Police say that suspect was treated for a dog bite.

Investigators determined the men were removing the parts from the business through a breach in a 7-foot fence surrounding the business.  Police say the men had successfully removed several thousand pounds of machine parts from the business before they were busted by police.  All items removed from the business were returned to business owner.

The pickup truck and trailer found at the scene were taken in as evidence.

Arrested for their alleged roles in the burglary were:  25-year-old Brandon Price, 18-year-old Leavern Johnson, and 19-year-old Eric Williams, all of Shreveport. Each man now faces a single count of burglary.  Price was also arrested on outstanding traffic warrants, while Williams faces an additional charge of resisting an officer.

Police say all three suspects have been convicted of previous burglaries. One of the suspects had 10 outstanding warrants.
