This week, South Mississippi was slammed with ice, sleet and snow. The driving conditions were terrible. It was a repeat and much worse than the ice storm of the week before.
We here at WLOX are always concerned when we have to deliver a forecast that we know will lead to school and business closures. We always ask ourselves: What if it's not as bad as we think it will be? Will we be accused of crying wolf?
If a storm is less that we expect, will people not pay attention next time and then end up in harm's way? This time the weather was as bad as predicted.
Fortunately, schools were closed, buses were not on the roads, and children were safe at home. And lots of businesses sent workers home early before the roads and bridges became hazardous.
We know there will be times when storm forecasts don't materialize to the level expected. But we will remain committed to delivering the forecast good or bad, so you can make decisions to keep you and your family safe.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com.
