MDOT crews 'pre-treat' bridges; Ingalls closing

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Crews with the Mississippi Department of Transportation are busy treating bridges and overpasses across South Mississippi in preparation for ice later today. The Popp's Ferry Bridge closed very briefly Tuesday morning so MDOT crews could pre-treat the bridge.

Ingalls Shipbuilding facilities in Pascagoula and Gulfport closed at 11am. That includes all employees, except for essential personnel notified by their supervision. Second and third shifts for both shipyards are also canceled for Tuesday.

Currently, the facilities are scheduled to be operating normally Wednesday. However, employees are encouraged to check the company's emergency information phone line for any work schedule changes and updates. Employees should call 1-877-871-2058 (Press 2 for Ingalls).
