CORINTH, MS -

(WMC-TV) - Concerns continue to rise after two heroin overdoses occurred during the course of ten days in one North Mississippi town. Police say the drugs are coming from Memphis.

The city of Corinth sees its share of drugs but rarely heroin.

Captain Ralph Dance said both overdoses appeared to be from the same batch. He does not think it was overly potent but that the users used more than they could handle.

"I've been here 24 years, and I've only seen it once or twice," he said. "I think the prices came down on it and made it more affordable for folks, and my understanding is that it's here, and we haven't seen enough of it until the last week."

Narcotic investigators think the addictive drugs found a market in Corinth from Memphis. Police arrested a suspect with heroin and think he may be tied to the groups bringing in the substance that have left two families grieving.

Corinth police say in order to find out where the drugs are from, they will be working with investigators in Mississippi, Memphis, and Shelby County.
