OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

An Ocean Springs business is about to get its red carpet moment. Soon Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and dozens of other Oscar nominees will learn about Marina Cottage Soap Company. That's because Marina Cottage products will be in the Oscar swag bags. The owner said she's happy to send a little taste of South Mississippi to Hollywood.

Marina Cottage Soap Company started off as a Vanessa Mueller looking for an all natural remedy to her daughter's eczema and became so much more.

"Then within a year now we're in 38 states and over 100 retailers," said Mueller. "We're even into Canada and growing every minute."

Every lotion, soap, and sunscreen is handmade and gluten and fragrance free. Mueller's her big break came after setting up a booth at an internationally known business exhibition in Atlanta.

"When we were at market apparently the people who handle the Oscars swag bags came by," Mueller said. "They had come by and actually had seen our products. I got an email that said 'hey, you've been chosen' and I can't tell you what that was like. Here we are in Ocean Springs, MS and we're going to the Oscars."

In the 50 Oscars swag bags will be the Mouth of the South line of lip balm with flavors like sweet tea and pecan pie, the Mississippi Mud facial bar and another item.

"We're going to introduce the no Gneaux more Gnaughty Gnats sunscreen and repellant. They have bugs out in California, too," said Mueller. "We're trying to come up with a really cute bag idea that will really represent the Coast whether we put a seashell on it or something that is indicative of this area. And it has the same big bold letters "Proudly made in Ocean Springs."

If the exposure from the Academy Awards brings huge business, Mueller wants to share that success with the community she loves.

"If we need to hire more folks, then the folks around here will be the first that we'll consider. We're from here. We want to employ people here," Mueller said. "Eventually I can see us going international even more and getting more and more retailers. I want Marina Cottage to be a household name for people."

Marina Cottage Soap Company is making 50 swag bags for the Academy Awards nominees. The Oscars air March 2nd on WLOX ABC.
