(RNN) - Christmas sweater meets stars and stripes, mixed with horse jockey type pants seem to make up the U.S. Olympic uniforms for the opening ceremony of next month's Winter Games.

The uniform, donned with a "Made In America" label is full of red, white and blue. The sweater is embellished in stars, flags and Olympic rings accompanied by white sport pants.

"A dynamic mix of patriotic references in a classic color palette of red, white and navy defines the Ralph Lauren 2014 Team USA Opening ceremony uniform, which is proudly Made in America," the company said in a statement Thursday.

The pictures released by Ralph Lauren show the athletes sporting the outfit along with black leather boots and a winter cap with braided tassels.

Ralph Lauren's son David told USA Today the design philosophy was to hark back to that most American of crafts, the patchwork quilt.

Lauren was under fire when it was revealed that the uniforms worn by American athletes at the 2012 Olympics in London were made in China.

Fans of the USA Olympic team can go to the Team USA shop site and pick out pieces of the uniform or other merchandise for purchasing. The ceremony sweaters sell for a whopping $598, but the gloves are more of a deal for $68.
