Madison Mayor's office mum on Target store delay

MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There's no target date for a Target store in the City of Madison.

We tried to get information on the delay from the Office of Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler, but a staffer in her office told us to "Call Target". We did not hear back from the Mayor's office.

We turned elsewhere, to Alderman-at-Large John Howland. The Target was to be built in the Spring, but Howland says lingering problems resulting from the massive security breach in December will cause a delay for an unknown length of time. He says it's not just a problem for the planned Madison store, it's nationwide.

No site plan has yet been approved, Howland says, but he believes the preferred location for the store is the Galleria Parkway.
