Burbank (WLBT) -

Alison Sweeney dropped a big announcement on Tuesday during her interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as reported by USA Today.

"I've been on Days of Our Lives for 21 years. I'm celebrating my 21st year," says Sweeney. "And I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show."

Sweeney, who is also the host of The Biggest Loser, has been on Days of Our Lives since she was 16. She has been doing both shows for the last seven years.

According to USA Today, Sweeney has decided to call it quits with the soap opera in order to spend more time with her kids.

"I just have, you know, worked so much and my daughter (Megan) just turned 5 and my son (Benjamin) is 9 and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year. I'm going to be on Days all this year," says Sweeney.
