KSLA News 12 Editorial: Jan. 20th-George Dement

Bossier City, in fact the entire Shreveport-Bossier City area, owe a debt of gratitude to George Dement.

Under his administration as the mayor of Bossier City, many of the landmarks we enjoy today were conceived and constructed.

It's an impressive list: the CenturyLink Center, the Louisiana Boardwalk, the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway and the first riverboat casinos.

Mr. Dement served four terms as mayor starting in 1989. It was a time of tremendous growth in Bossier City, growth residents are still benefiting from today.

George Dement died January 12th. He was 91. He left is mark on Bossier City.

I'm James Smith.

Tonight at 11:59 p.m., KSLA's extended agreement with DirecTV will expire and they may drop this station from their lineup. We have been working hard to stay on their system, but they have simply refused to make a fair deal.
