Gulfport & West Harrison getting ready for Hoopsfest on Saturday

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport head coach Owen Miller has a highly talented Admirals team highlighted by junior Jahshire Hardnett, who is netting 24 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Teammate Dimitri Cook carries a 16.6 scoring average, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Junior Harvey Smart headlines the West Harrison Hurricanes of head coach Doug Bazzell. Smart is bagging 19 points, 3.4 assists and 3.3 steals. Maurice Stephen is drilling 16.2 points and 9.3 rebounds an outing. The Gulfport-West Harrison clash should be a thriller.

Owen Miller said,"I think it's good for the coast. I think people want to see this game. They're having a great year. They have some really good players. We'll having a very good year. I think it will be good for the fans to come out and see Gulfport and West Harrison play."

Jahshire Hardnett said,"That is going to be a good game. Big game. Everybody is talking about it and letting it be known. So it will be a good match up."

The Hurricanes also attack with a fast paced offense and aggressive defense. Basketball fans on the Mississippi Gulf Coast will be entertained this coming Saturday.

Hoopsfest tickets are 10 dollars at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum box office.

Monday afternoon Gulfport traveled to Jackson and beat Murrah 56-55 in overtime.  Dimitri Cook scored the winning bucket with 1.5 seconds left in OT after Jahshire Hardnett missed a three point attempt.
