HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Fire Rescue crews battled a brush fire on Hucks Road Monday.

Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins tweeted a photo from the scene, where smoke appeared to be present at the edge of the tree line.

The fire - which stemmed from an unattended fire pit - has been contained with no damage to any structures in the area.

Lt. Brian VanAernem said because the wind, the ground fuels are so dry. Fire crews were called to at least six brush fires Monday, none of which began as a controlled burn.

Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., the potential for brush fires to spark is expected to be dying down.\
