Subfreezing temperatures moving into Middle TN

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Temperatures are going to fall into the 20s across Middle Tennessee by Tuesday afternoon as an arctic cold front moves into the area.

Some parts of the Midstate saw a wintry mix Tuesday morning, causing some school delays and cancellations.

Channel 4 Meteorologist Paul Heggen says a second batch of rain, snow and sleet is moving through the area but Nashville will only see some flurries.

This batch will intensify as it moves to the eastern parts of Middle Tennessee around 9 or 10 a.m., which could see half an inch or more.

Middle Tennessee will wake up to temperatures in the teens on Wednesday, and it will be even colder on Thursday and Friday.

Heggen says temperatures may not get above 35 degrees until Saturday afternoon.

Most of Middle Tennessee is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service says wind gusts could get up to 45 mph and will create difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.
