First Alert Weather: next harsh winter blast set to arrive Tuesday night

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An arctic cold front will pass through the area Tuesday evening and bring a sharp drop in temperatures and wind chill values!

MONDAY NIGHT: Expect mostly clear skies, light southwest breezes, and seasonably chilly low temperatures mainly in the upper 30s (inland) and lower 40s (coast).

TUESDAY: Expect mixed sun and clouds. The shower chance will grow to 30 or 40% late in the day. Temperatures will make a run to the upper 50s and low 60s with mild west breezes.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Expect temperatures to plunge rapidly through the 40s, 30s, and into the 20s on brisk northwest breezes. A couple of rain or snow showers may pass in the evening.

ACCUMULATING SNOW? It's unlikely for most of the area. The best chance of a dusting or more will likely be north of Clinton, Kenansville, and Richlands. Stay tuned for updates though!

WEDNESDAY: Sunny but very cold! Wind chill values may be as low as around 10 early and hover in the 10s and 20s for most of the day. High temperatures: mainly mid 30s.

EXTENDED FORECAST TRENDS: Below-average temperatures and low precipitation chances will remain likely for the remainder of the week and the weekend.
