Bobo faces more than 10 years in prison

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Brandon man is back behind bars after stabbing a pharmacy technician with a syringe. It happened Thursday night at the Walmart in Ridgeland. Twenty-eight year old Joshua Bobo sits inside the Madison County Jail with no bond.

Police say Bobo stabbed a Walmart pharmacy technician in the hand with a syringe after she tried to stop him from stealing controlled narcotics.

Ridgeland Police Lt. Brian Myers says dispatch received a call about 7:30 Thursday night that a man was armed inside Walmart with a hypodermic needle.

"Upon our arrival we saw a white male running back into the building from a vehicle," said Lt. Myers. "It turns out he had attempted to carjack a vehicle and saw our officers arriving and ran back in to the business. He was taken in custody with no incident."

During the incident Bobo did get his hands on a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide and began to drink it. He was taken to a local hospital, but shortly after was released.

Lt. Myers says this is not the first time Bobo has had a run in with police. Our records show Bobo was arrested in January 2013 after he threatened police and his family with a rifle if they tried to interfere with him committing suicide.

The standoff in the Palisades neighborhood in Rankin County last for more than four hours. Bobo finally surrendered to his grandmother.

During this court appearance back in 2013 Bobo was forced to undergo a mental evaluation. One year later, that same evaluation will be given.

"He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and carjacking," said Myers.

Bobo faces more than 10 years behind bars.

Lt. Myers says the pharmacy tech was released from the hospital Thursday night and is doing fine.
