Emergency response exercise being held at Pee Dee Academy Tuesday

MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A school safety training exercise will be conducted at Pee Dee Academy on Tuesday, January 21, to evaluate the response capabilities of the school and various county emergency response agencies.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Marion County Emergency Management Agency and other response agencies will conduct the exercise, which will simulate an emergency situation on campus, according to a news release from Marion County.

"During this exercise, there will be an increased presence of emergency response vehicles and personnel in and around the area of Pee Dee Academy and US Highway 76," the release states. "Please do not be alarmed, as this will only be a training exercise."

The exercise is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude no later than 11:30 a.m.
